STAFF ATTORNEY POSITION

LSE is a statewide non-profit organization that has been providing free legal services to older Mainers for forty nine years. LSE is committed to ensuring that all older people in Maine – of any class, race, sex, background, orientation, or identity -- are secure in meeting their basic needs, including housing, health care, nutrition, community, safety, and freedom from exploitation and oppression. As part of that commitment, LSE works to create and maintain a workforce and culture that reflects the diversity of our state.

LSE has a fulltime Staff Attorney position open. Applicants must be living or planning to live in Maine. The Staff Attorney could work remotely from a home office located in Maine, from an LSE office if there is one nearby, or under a hybrid arrangement. The Staff Attorney will handle a wide variety of civil litigation matters and conduct outreach in an assigned geographic area of service.

Candidates must be licensed to practice in Maine and have 0-5 years of related legal experience (or be sitting for the bar examination in February). Candidates must also have a strong interest in and/or experience doing civil litigation and a commitment to working with and helping older people.  The Staff Attorney will work as part of a team of Staff Attorneys and receive ongoing professional training and support.

The salary range for this position is $67,000 to $71,000 depending upon relevant experience.  LSE offers a collegial and inclusive work environment and an excellent benefit package. Interviews will start on February 23 and continue until the job is filled.  Please provide a cover letter, resume and references via email to mlachapelle@mainelse.org.

LSE is an equal opportunity employer.
